This Privacy Policy explains how Tinnitus Sync ("the App") handles your information. Tinnitus Sync was built by an independent developer who values privacy. The fundamental principle of the App is simple: your data belongs to you, and it stays with you.
1. Data Collection and Local Storage
Tinnitus Sync does not require you to create a user account, nor does it track your personal identity.
- Local Data: All of your customized tinnitus match profiles, training durations, and haptic preferences are saved directly to your personal device using Apple’s local storage.
- No Analytics Tracking: The App does not silently monitor your usage behavior, run third-party tracking analytics, or "phone home" with your private wellness routines.
2. Apple HealthKit Usage
Tinnitus Sync will request HealthKit access when you start a training session for the first time. If you Allow the App the requested capabilities, it will create a Workout for every training sessions, as well as log the training session time to your Mindful Minutes. Additionally, the App will read the Workouts it has created for you to display as your training history.
If you have an Apple Watch, there is an added benefit to approving Apple HealthKit access. Doing so will allow the app to utilize the background processing mode on the Apple Watch. This system permission is required by watchOS to keep the custom haptic vibrations running when your watch screen goes off during a session. Without this permission, the App on your Apple Watch will be subject to power manangement restrictions and will stop triggering haptic vibrations after some period of time, typically 2-3 minutes. That may be shorter than your desired training session time.
Tinnitus Sync does not read, write, collect, or store any personal medical, fitness, or health data that it did not create itself. It does not access your personal health records.
3. Information You Voluntarily Provide
The only way information leaves your device is if you explicitly choose to contact us using the in-app Feedback Form. The only information sent during feedback is what you enter on the form. No app analytics or information is collect and sent with the feedback.
- Anonymous Feedback: If you submit feedback without an email address, your submission is completely anonymous and confidential. We will read your suggestions to improve the App, but we will not know who sent them.
- Email Correspondence: If you choose to provide your email address on the feedback form, your contact information and the contents of your message remain strictly confidential.
- Limited Access: Any feedback or emails you send will only be read by the primary developer (Kevin Cureton) and their husband, who acts as legal counsel and strategic advisor for the App. Your communications will never be forwarded, distributed, or exposed to anyone else.
4. Data Sharing and Selling
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties. There are no advertising networks integrated into Tinnitus Sync, and your data is never monetized.
5. Third-Party Services
The App utilizes a secure, third-party routing service (Formspree) exclusively to securely transmit your feedback from the App to our private email inbox. Formspree acts solely as a conduit for this message and does not retain or use your data for their own purposes.
6. Changes to This Policy
If there are ever meaningful changes to how Tinnitus Sync handles data (for example, if new features require different storage methods), this policy will be updated, and the new effective date will be noted at the top of the page. We will keep an archive of previous versions of this policy.
7. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, please reach out via the Feedback Form located within the Settings tab of the App.
